This isn’t my first linocut of 2019, but it’s the one that began what I’d like to think of as a kind of creative sequence for me. It actually comes from a drawing. I wanted to draw my sax for a book project I’m working on, so I propped the instrument up on an armchair. My cat then decided she wanted to be in the drawing too––so I obliged. The sax is a Conn ‘Shooting-Star’ tenor, which I brought from a shady bloke in a MacDonald’s parking lot in Falmouth.
Beautiful work! I love the subtlety of this.
