The Fish, the Flower, the Cat, and the Open French Window.

Some shapes seem to bring me joy: the pirouetting spirals of chrysanthemums, the streamed lines of fish, and the blocky silhouettes of cats.

This print began as simple black and white, but the shapes of the separate elements became too complex for the whole, and so this print became one of my first attempts at registering a reductive print. It was also my first use of oil-based inks, and it’s interesting to me how the richness of the color even affects the digital scans.
